  • 15 oz can low-sodium black beans drained, rinsed, and patted dry
  • ½ cup smooth nut butter peanut, almond, or sunflower butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or honey/agave
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • cup mini chocolate chips dark, semi-sweet, or sugar-free
  • Optional Toppings & Mix-Ins
  • Flaky sea salt – Enhances sweetness
  • Chopped nuts walnuts, pecans, almonds – Adds crunch
  • Espresso powder – Intensifies chocolate flavor

Equipment

  • Food processor or high-powered blender – To blend the ingredients into a smooth batter.
  • Mixing bowl – For stirring in chocolate chips.
  • Spatula – To scrape down sides and mix thoroughly.

Method
 

  1. Prep the Black Beans
  2. Drain and rinse the black beans under running water until clear.
  3. Spread them out on a clean towel and pat dry.
  4. Blend Until Smooth
  5. In a food processor, combine black beans, nut butter, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and sea salt.
  6. Blend in 30-second increments, scraping the sides as needed, until smooth.
  7. If too thick, add 1-2 tbsp non-dairy or regular milk.
  8. Stir in Chocolate Chips
  9. Transfer batter to a mixing bowl and stir in mini chocolate chips.
  10. Serve & Enjoy!
  11. Scoop into a dish and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
  12. Enjoy straight from the spoon, as a dip, or rolled into bites.
